PTRWA Transfer Pump Station

Guilford County, NC
This 6,650-square-foot pump station for the Piedmont Triad Regional Water Authority offered several challenges: provide a facility that enhances the rural surroundings, select sustainable and durable materials that reduce maintenance, and design a building to accommodate large-scale pump equipment, yet relate to its small-scale context. The exterior materials provide a modern interpretation of a rural barn and at the same time experiment with visual scale. On the interior, the large pumps regulate the water flow from the Randleman Dam to Greensboro and High Point.
